Beginner courses are 6 weeks in length. You must complete a beginner course to be eligable to join the agility club.

This course will get you and your dog familiar with each obstacle and be confident tackling them. Obstacles will be varied depending on the age of your dog.

Places fill quickly so book now.

Agility Club - Once you have completed one of the above courses you are eligible to join the agility club where you can come each week, practice and have fun. The cost for members is £30 per month, this gives you 45 minutes per week of tuition and training.

We are different to other clubs in the area as we provide continual training and tuition throughout time at oakwood, we spent alot of time on foundation training so as your dog improves and we work on more advanced techniques your training does not fall apart.  Once in the club you and your dog are progressed individually each week. We do not just leave you to have a free for all session lilke many clubs may do.

  • We will show you how to change handler side while moving around a course using front crosses and rear crosses
  • How to get your dog to work away from you
  • How to get your dog to work ahead and behind you
  • We use the 6 point weave training programme which creates a solid independat weave style (your dog does not need you by their side all of the time)
  • We show you how to use hand signals to move your dog around not using your legs to guide the dog (using your legs for guidance means you can't move away from your dog, this is fine at grade 1/2 but as you progress will become a hindrance)

Come and watch a class before you join, no appointment needed.

However we do train outdoors in all weather so come dressed accordingly.

If you are in another Agility Club can you do the following:
  • Run a course with fewer than 6 voice commands?
  • Can you achieve a contact and run ahead of your dog?
  • Does your dog run straight to a contact even with you lagging behind?
  • Can your dog weave without you right by his side?
  • Do you know what a front cross/rear cross and blind cross are?
  • Can you send your dog into an obstacle from any angle even 90degrees?
  • Can you do flick flacks?
  • Can you work out how to handle a full course with no/little instructor guidance?

If the answer is no to any of these questions, ask your club instructor. If they can't tell/help you maybe you need to change clubs? call us for a free intial assessment of your requirements.
