Please help our work!!
Oakwood Canine Services now operate a rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming charity for dogs. We take in all dogs, including those with special needs or dogs who cannot be accomodated elsewhere, rehabilitate and re-home them.
Due to our schedule we are unable to provide viewing without an appointment. Most of our dogs are kept at our centre if we dont have foster homes available, we have 6 individual rooms rather than kennels so the dogs have plenty of space. if they are good with dogs they can stay together, those that aren't have their own room.
When they are rehomed they will be neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Free training will be provided for the first 6 months of the adoption(use is subject to availability and suitability) and then substantial discounts apply. All of the above is subject to conditions.
We feel that the rescue and rehoming of dogs is more than just looking after their basic needs and as potential owners of rescue dogs we think you need more support than many rescues give, this is where we will differ from most. If you are interested in any of our dogs please call us to discuss further.
The reason we don't allow browsing of our dogs at our centre is because we will try to match you with a dog most suitable for your family/lifestyle rather than allowing you pick the one that looks prettiest, which will probably be completely unsuitable for you.
Polite Notice - we are a training centre and so often are not staffed to be be able to deal with rescue enquiries if people drop in. Please call us on 01482 823555 to make an appointment or to chat about your needs.
We also have a policy of not rehoming dogs to families with children under 10years of age - simply because you have enough to deal with bringing up a child without the addition of a rescue dog with special needs and sometimes young kids do silly things to dogs which can result in the nicest dog snapping.
Volunteers Needed
In order to continue with our work, we are looking for people who can help us to raise money to care for our rescue dogs. You could hold sponsored events like a walk or a run, or hold a coffee morning or a sponsored BBQ.
Dog Walkers Urgently Required
Do you have an hour a week to spare? if so please help us, we have dogs that need to go out for walks. Please call us if you can help.
You could even put a collection tin at work or at your local pub - Anything you can think of to help us continue to rescue and rehome unwanted dogs.
Romainan Dog Rescue
In January we began working with a Romaina Dog Shelter and we will be bringing dogs over to help them find new homes, we need reliable foster homes to help these dogs. We now have 7 of these dogs with us and need foster homes and dog walkers to help us to help them adjust to their new lives.
PLEA for WORMING TABLETS
Please help us, our time/funds are severly limited, we currently need some Drontal Plus/Milbemax tablets to get our new dogs wormed, money donations or simply bringing us the tablets would help imensely. Please note we can only accept Drontal Plus, Milbemax, Advocate Spot on for our dogs.
